<p>The wings of a glider are connected together by a frame which also supports the cockpit for the pilot, so that the wings can be raised together with the cockpit from the remainder of the glider. This enables adjustments to be made during flight. The weight of the assembly and the pilot's body is opposed by a compressed gas cylinder and a piston and cylinder actuator, and movement is then controlled by a pedal and chain drive connected to a lever system. The system can also be adapted to a type of glider with wings which are moved in the manner of a bird's wings.</p> |
