PURPOSE: To uniformize the layer thickness of a developer thin layer, to make a thin layer blade low in height and to constitute a developing device thin by allowing a part of a developer thin layer forming means having a nearly L-shaped cross-section to come into press-contact with the surface of a developing roller and the developer thin layer formed on the roller surface to approach an electrostatic latent image carrier or come into contact therewith. CONSTITUTION: The thin layer blade 16 is constituted of a sheet metal spring made of urethane resin and has a nearly L-shaped cross-sectional shape and a part of the blade 16 is fixed on the housing of a developing unit 14. Then, toner 19 therein is stirred/carried by the rotation of stirring paddles 18a and 18b and reaches the toner supplying port A of the developing roller 15. The toner 19 reaching the supplying port A flows into the wedge shaped cross-sectional part of the tip of the top end part of the blade 16, in its abutting position against the roller 15 and taken in a contact nip part with the rotation of the roller 15. At this time, the toner 19 is uniformized as a toner thin layer on the surface of the roller 15 by the blade 16 and electrified by the friction between the surface of the roller 15 and the blade 16 in a nip part. |
