PURPOSE: To obtain the subject asphalt composition usable in producing roofing films or sheets. CONSTITUTION: This asphalt composition comprises about 45 to about 70 pts.wt. of asphalt, about 15 to about 25 pts.wt. of a polymeric modifier for the asphalt, about 15 to about 25 pts.wt. of a filler, and about 0.1 to about 5 pts.wt. of a dispersant which can be selected from stearic acid, tri(dioctyl)pyrophosphate- titanate, tri(dioctyl)pyrophosphate-O, neoalkoxytridodecylbenzenesulfonyl titanate, lecithin, aluminum stearate, an ethylene-α-olefin copolymers modified with maleic anhydride, propylene-ethylene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride, an ethoxylated alcohole, and mixtures thereof. Therefore, owing to this selection, the asphalt composition has improved characteristics including thermal stability, shortened processing time and improved surface sealing properties.
