PURPOSE: To accurately detect the abnormality of a vehicle speed sensor or a circuit in the early stage by providing the information processing circuit which discriminates the occurrence of an accident in the case that the sensor which detects the acceleration acting in the transverse direction of a vehicle outputs the output but the vehicle speed sensor doesn't output the output. CONSTITUTION: A transverse G sensor 22 as the acceleration sensor provided in an obstacle detector is the gravitational acceleration sensor consisting of a potentiometer and a pendulum. This sensor 22 is attached to the circuit board in a case and detects the acceleration acting in the transverse direction of the vehicle to output the detection signal to an operation circuit 41' in the case of the acceleration value larger than a prescribed value. If the detection signal detected by a vehicle speed sensor 31 of a running state detection part 2 is 0 in this case, a signal processing part 3 decides a fault of the speed sensor, disconnection of a signal line, or a fault of circuit elements and outputs a fault signal to an alarm report part 4 to not only display it on a distance display device 51 but also drive an alarm 52.
