PURPOSE: To provide a compsn. for a planographic printing plate having satisfactory sensitivity, excellent in development latitude, resistance to processing chemicals and contrast and also having very satisfactory suitability to writing with a ball-point pen and to the formation of a visible image by exposure. CONSTITUTION: This photosensitive compsn. contains a quinonediazido compd. and a resin binder and the resin is novolak resin obtd. by condensing phenolic components including >=50% phenol and aldehydes or ketones. When the integral value of peaks in the range of 23.0-31.0ppm in the 13C-NMR spectrum of a soln. of the novolak resin in deuterated dimethylsulfoxide, that in the range of 31.0-34.0ppm and that in the range of 34.0-37.0ppm are represented by A, B and C, respectively, the value of X [X=A/(A+B+C)] is >=0.60 and the amt. of zinc in the novolak resin is <=0.10wt.%. |
