PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve power efficiency and spectrum efficiency by using the respective beams of the multibeam antenna for all the channels in the same frequency band. SOLUTION: The respective beams are provided with receiving devices 15 to 17 so as to make it possible to receive signals of all usable channels and they operate with specific frequency channels respectively and output signals representing means of Euclidean distances between desired and receive signal points. The outputs are coupled with beam selectors 24 to 26 through terminals 21 to 23. The respective selector outputs reach monitor/handoff initiators 27 to 29 through, for example, a line 36 by the average Euclidean distance as the signal quality scale of a selected beam, so the beam selector 24 of the channel 1 receives the signal representing the average Euclid distance of the channel 1. When this average distance, i.e., quality scale decreases below a threshold level, a handoff process is started and a final determined channel is selected out of all usable channels in the frequency band. |
