PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of a high-speed rotary machine by circulating cooling air in the machine without using any cooling fan. CONSTITUTION: In a flat rotary machine, an air ventilating duct hole 5-1 is bored through a rotor 15 and a plurality of radial air ventilating duct holes 19-1 which communicate with the hole 5-1 are bored through the rotor 15 toward a clearance in which the inner peripheral part of a stator coil 10 is arranged. At the same time, a plurality of air ventilating duct holes 10-1 are bored through a spacer 16 from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side. In addition, air ventilating duct holes 1-2 and air ventilating duct grooves 1-1 which respectively communicate with the duct holes 16-1 of the spacer 16 are bored through a cylindrical case 1 and air ventilating holes 201 are bored through an end-side bracket 2 so that the holes 2-1 can respectively communicate with the duct grooves 1-1 of the case 1.
