The method involves spraying into the area at high pressure from one or more filling zones and creating relative movement between the area and these zones to ensure that the entire length of the area is filled. Air is sucked in around these zones to remove dust and other impurities. The equipment comprises a filling device with a material storage section (112) from which the material is sprayed into the area (R) and suction boxes (130). This device is moved along the length of the area to be filled.
