<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for manufacturing metal vapor discharge lamps, with which it is practicable to minimize dislocation of a metal foil and electrode rod of the discharge lamp and eliminate dislocation of a pair of electrode rods. CONSTITUTION: An electrode conductor 2 having a magnetic member 2d is inserted into a glass tube 1, and a magnet 5 is approached or contacted to/with the outside of the glass tube 1 so that the magnetic member 2d is attracted and held. The specified part of the glass tube 1 is heated and melted in the condition that the elecrode conductor 2 is put stationarily in the space in the tube 1, and the molten part is pinched, and thereby the intended seal is accomplished.</p> |
