PURPOSE: To improve the hit rate of price inquiry in a POS memory by automatically rendezvousing merchandise records high in access frequency onto the POS memory in a POS terminal in a POS system. CONSTITUTION: A merchandise record table 1 is provided on the POS memory in the POS terminal. This table 1 is provided with a merchandise queue 2 for registering merchandise names and prices, an order (NEXT) queue 3 showing the order of access, a reverse order (BEFORE) queue 4 showing the reverse order of access and further, respective areas 5 and 6 showing the merchandise names of the latest and oldest access objects. Since the contents of the queues 2-4 and areas 5 and 6 are automatically updated for every time the merchandise record is accessed, the always latest information records are automatically generated and rendezvoused. |
