PURPOSE: To provide an alkaline dry battery with high heavy-load discharge performance. CONSTITUTION: An alkaline dry battery is formed by inserting an electrode plate group obtained by spirally winding a positive plate 1 mainly comprising a metal oxide and a negative plate 2 mainly comprising zinc through a separator 3 into a metal case 4. The positive plate is arranged on the outermost side, and conduct current collecting by bringing it into contact with the inner wall of the metal case to also use the metal case as a positive terminal.
