The lock coding system may use bolt-plate (4) notches (9) to keep alarm circuit contacts (8) normally open. They close while the bolt (5) moves. On inserting the correct key the differential displacements, by key projections (6), of some pallets (1), conforming to a prearranged code, free the mechanism (3, 4), allowing the key to rotate, deflecting the bolt (7). The pallet set includes some pallets (10), arbitrarily located, whose displacement, irrelevant to the mechanical action, opens or closes associated alarm circuit contacts (11) according to a prearranged code. The circuit is closed only if this code is not satisfied, giving an alarm if the bolt moves. A system for increasing the available number of codes, and a laser-based optical version, may also be provided.
