<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording and reproducing device which is constituted to operate stably by eliminating the projecting amount of a head which varies depending upon the width direction of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic recording and reproducing device is constituted so that the same helical track pattern as the conventional pattern can be formed with a stable tape-head contact by constituting the head scanning mechanism of the device which records and reproduces sounds, etc., on and from a magnetic tape by rotating a head around the main axis of the head which is inclined against the axis of a drum having an elliptic cross section 15 in such a way that a linear recording track is obtained by displacing the head in the width direction of the magnetic tape synchronously to the rotation of the drum and, at the same time, the shape of the drum is corrected 16 in the radial direction of the drum so as to maintain the projecting amount of the head at a fixed value.</p> |
