PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic head device for magnetic recording and reproduc ing device which has an excellent wowing and fluttering ability when vibrations are impressed upon the device. CONSTITUTION: Groove sections 30 and 31 are formed on the outside of guide pieces 28b and 29b constituting tape guides 15 and 16 formed on the left and right sides of a holding section 3 holdings a magnetic head 2. The wowing and fluttering ability of a magnetic recording and reproducing device when vibrations are impressed upon the device is improved by widening the clearances between the tape guides 15 and 16 inserted into the small holes 24 and 25 of a cassette and edges of the holes 24 and 25.
