PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image on a screen of arbitrary shape and size by receiving independent data streams from different data sources, and controlling how and where images from data streams are shown on a screen. SOLUTION: Data streams 10, 12 and 14, and a command stream 16 are received with a display device 18, and then a format control part 20 receives a command 16, thereby controlling pre-processing parts 22, 24 and 26, and conversion parts 28, 30 and 32. Also, data from the data streams 10, 12 and 14 are pre-processed in the pre-processing parts 22, 24 and 26, and then converted through the conversion parts 28, 30 and 32, thereby generating images 36, 38 and 40 respectively on a screen 34. Furthermore, a current screen format 50 instructs about which data stream to be received, how to pre-process the received stream, how to convert the pre-processed stream and where to display the converted stream on the screen 34. |
