The electronic labelling system uses a code made up from a combination of different signal levels. The different signal levels are provided by use of a bank of ten resistances whose values relate to the signal levels required. The resistances are connected to a decimal counter (type 4017). The counter is connected to an input current supply, and to a clock signal. By reading the currents flowing in each of the resistance branches, the required code number can be established. By a combination using one of five levels on each of ten input resistances, a large number of label number combinations can be established.
