The system for the automatic rapid opening of envelopes comprises an envelope having all kinds of formats having parts (1,4,5) folded at the ends of the main envelope body. Tabs (2) located on the flap (5) and tabs (3) integral with the envelope folded part. By exerting successive pulls on each of the tabs the envelope tears and is thus opened without using a tool. The tabs integral with the flap are cut out over a few millimetres in the intersection (7) between the straight and rounded part of the flap. The tabs on the folded part are cut out over a few millimetres at the meeting point (8) between the flap and the tab. These tabs have pre-cut needle perforations along the length of the band (4)
