摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To provide a semiconductor light emitting device in which light emitting parts can be formed in high density and besides which has a light output monitoring function, and consists of an array of light emitting diodes high in uniformity light output. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor light emitting device consists of a light emitting diode array being made by separating an end face light emission type of light emitting diode consisting of semiconductor stack structure made on a compound semiconductor substrate 501 into a plurality of end face light emission type of light emitting diode elements 402 by a plurality of electric spacial separation grooves 404 provided at regular intervals. And, for the light emitting diode array, a light emitting diode 401 of such structure that a face incidence type photodiode 403, which is vertical to the compound semiconductor board face and besides into which light emitted from under the end face light emission type light emitting diode element 402 can enter, is stacked vertically on the same substrate as the end face light emission type light emitting diode 402 so that the end face light emission type of light emitting diode may be above and that the face incidence type photodiode 403 may be below, is adopted for each light emitting diode element.</p>
