PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic recording disk having satisfactory electromagnetic transducing characteristics, overwriting characteristics and peak shift characteristics and optimum for digital data recording. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic layer contg. magnetic powder of hexagonal ferrite dispersed in a binder is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate to obtain the objective magnetic recording disk. The ratio between the degrees of orientation of the magnetic layer is >=0.9, the squareness ratio corrected with a perpendicular demagnetizing field is 0.3-0.55 and the magnetic layer has 1,400-3,000Oe coercive force in each of the intrasurface and perpendicular directions and <=0.8μm thickness on dry basis. |
