PURPOSE: To cope with high-speed printing and to obtain a high-quality image by providing a light beam scanning optical system using multiple light sources. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with at least N (N is an integer >=2) scanning beam light sources 1a and 1b, shaping lens systems 2a and 2b shaping respective light beams emitted from the light sources 1a and 1b, a light beam deflector 4 where rotatable polygon mirrors 5a and 5b are superposed and disposed by N in a rotary shaft center direction, an optical element 6 which changes the transmitting plane of the light beam deflected by the respective polygon mirrors 5a and 5b in the deflector 4 so as to make the light beam pass the same plane of a scanning lens system 7, the scanning lens system 7 forming the light beam made incident from the optical element 6 into an image on the surface to be scanned of a photoreceptor 21, and a synchronism detector 9 detecting the synchronism of the light beam to be scanned. |
