The panel, e.g. for protecting a vehicle against low-calibre projectiles, consists of a first layer (1) of a transparent material, a second layer (2) of an armoured material with perforations (4), and a third layer (3) of a transparent material. The perforated armoured layer can be of a metal such as steel or steel and aluminium, or a metal with a ceramic coating, and its perforations can be circular, oval, square, rectangular or hexagonal. and are smaller than the calibre of the projectiles. Pref. the first and third layers can be glass and polycarbonate, e.g. two sheets of glass for the first layer and two sheets or polycarbonate for the third. The perforations in the second layer an be perpendicular or inclined relative to its surface.
