PURPOSE: To provide a method for preventing the nonuniformity of film thicknesses which occurs in a process for producing color filters for color liquid crystal display devices using a film transfer method. CONSTITUTION: This process for producing the color filter comprises forming a black matrix 1, colored pixels 3 and an overcoating film 4 on a transparent substrate such as transparent plastic or glass substrate 2 and executing the formation of the colored pixels 3 by repeating stages for exposing and developing for respective colors after forming colored photosensitive resin layers by a film transfer method on the transparent substrate. The film thicknesses of the colored photosensitive resin layers of the colored films to be used for the second color are made equal. The films which are thicker by 5 to 30% in the film thickness of the colored photosensitive resin layers of the colored film for the third color than the film thickness of the former are used. Otherwise, the color filter is formed by parting spacings between the colored pixels at >=20μm. As a result, the color filters having the high flatness on the pixel surfaces are produced. The color filters which have the decreased variations in the color characteristics and the small differences in level of the pixels are obtd. |
