PURPOSE: To obtain an ultrasonic test equipment and test method in which the sensitivity is not deteriorated even if the band width of a split probe is widened and S/N ratio is enhanced while removing the leakage noise. CONSTITUTION: The ultrasonic test equipment for searching a flaw in a steel plate using a split vertical probe 4 transmitting and receiving ultrasonic wave, individually, in the direction normal to a plane to be inspected comprises an FM signal setting section 2 for generating a transmission wave being employed in transmission/reception of ultrasonic wave using a chirp wave causing frequency transition within a predetermined pulse width, a reference wave setting section 7 for generating a reference wave using a chirp wave having shape identical to or different from that of the transmission wave generated using the chirp wave, and a pulse compressing section 6 for correlating the receiving wave from the split vertical probe 4 and the reference wave from the reference wave setting section 7. |
