PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device in which time loss is eliminated at the time when the density of an original image is preliminarily scanned, and which can prevent productivity from being lowered even when automatic original density detection control is performed in the case of automatically feeding an original. CONSTITUTION: This image forming device in which original is automatically fed and is moved back and forth on an original placing glass 10 by an original feeding means 6 one by one, image information on the original on the glass 10 is optically read by an original exposing means 20, and the image carrier is irradiated so as to form an image, has an original density detecting means 51 automatically detecting original density by exposing the original by means of the means 20 before a process forming the image is provided, and performs the image density detection while exposing the original when it is fed by the means 6 and the means 20 moves in a direction opposite to an image reading scanning direction. |
