PURPOSE: To make possible insertion editing rewriting a part of recorded tracks in a magnetic recording/reproducing device using a rotary erase head capable of erasing plural recording tracks simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: The insertion editing is performed for the tracks on which a recording signal added with a pilot signal required for head trace position detection on the recording track by a digital converter 1 is recorded as a recording signal. At this time, the erase head 6 on a rotary cylinder 3 is attached to the position confronted with a recording/reproducing head 4 reproducing the signal required for ATF control, and track erase operation is separated from reproduction of an ATF signal.
