PURPOSE:To facilitate the drawing out of a bobbin by a method wherein a plurality of slender fingers are fitted to a winding drum body for a glass fiber strand so that the fingers can be projected in the radial directions, the bobbin is supported by centrifugal forces during the winding operation and the fingers are retracted when the drum is stopped. CONSTITUTION:The finger 3 consists of a partly cylindrical head part 4, a base part 5 having a rectangular cross section and a leg part 6, in which the width of the head part 4 and the over-all height are proportionally increased from the front to the rear end. The drum body 1 is provided with grooves 7 having a cross-shaped cross section cut at regular intervals, and the fingers 3 are fitted into enlarged parts 8 of the grooves 7 so as to be movable in the radial directions. When the drum is stopped, the fingers 3 at upper parts of the drum are retracted under their own weights to the position where the bottom surface of the base part 5 contacts with a stepped part 12, and the surfaces of the head parts constitute a conical surface because the bottom surfaces are inclined. During the winding of the strand with the bobbin fitted on the drum, the fingers 3 are projected by the centrifugal forces and the upper surfaces of the base parts 5 are brought into contact with plate parts 13, so that the surfaces of the head parts 4 constitute a cylindrical surface to support the bobbin 14 uniformly. When the drum is stopped, the fingers 3 are retracted under their own weights, so that the bobbin can be drawn out easily even if it is deformed. |
