A device to support and maintain under tension a false ceiling or wall of sheet (1) plastic or fabric consists of a support profile (2) and a movable profile (3) between which the sheet is jammed. The support profile (2) is fixed to the wall or ceiling and has a circular section longitudinal rib (4) over which the sheet (1) is stretched. The movable profile (3) has a smooth, elastically deformable section of substantially circular 'C' section that fits over the longitudinal rib to jam the sheet between them. The profiles has arc shaped (5),(6),(7) partic. to facilitate ease of positioning, fixing and demounting of the sheet. Partic. the profiles are made of PVC. The radii of curvatures of the rib and the 'C' section are such that their difference approximates to the thickness of the sheet.
