PURPOSE: To enable receiving large quantity of data in a short time by means of a subscriber by using a second communication channel where a CATV network between a CATV center and the subscriber is used. CONSTITUTION: A personal communication center 1 is connected to the CATV center 17 by a high-speed transmission line such as ATM, a high-speed digital line and a frame relay, etc. The high-speed transmission line is connected to the CATV network by a communication controller 18 inside the center 17. The communication controller 20 inside a CATV subscriber house 19 is connected to a personal computer 3 with a serial interface and the communication controller 22 inside the CATV subscriber house 21 is connected to the plural personal computers 3-1 to 3-n by HUB 23 in LAN. Then, a high speed communication channel part in the controller 18 modulates data from the center 1 so as to permit it to be on the high-speed communication channel of the CATV network and a low-speed communication channel part demodulates data from the personal computer so as to transmit it to the center 1. |
