<p>PURPOSE: To use all of the picture recording time set to a used magnetic tape for recording pictures regardless of the kind of the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic tape discriminating section 1 discriminates the kind of a loaded magnetic tape which varies depending upon the thickness of the tape from manual operation or detecting holes provided in a tape cassette. When a picture recording mode setting circuit 8 sets a standard picture recording mode and a picture recording time setting circuit 3 sets picture recording time, and then, the picture recording time is started in the standard picture recording mode, a system control circuit 7 calculates the remaining amount of a magnetic tape from the information about the rotations of reel drive discs 9a and 9b from reel rotation detectors 2a and 2b and the information set to a magnetic tape discriminating section 1 and compares the calculated remaining amount with the picture recording time set by the circuit 3 When it is judged that all picture are not able to be recorded in the standard picture recording mode, the picture recording mode is switched to a long-time picture recording mode by operating a mode switching circuit 4 at a prescribed point of time in the set picture recording time so that all of the set picture recording time can be used for recording the pictures.</p> |
