PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic element stable at the time of synthesization, manufacture and film storage, as well as capable of effectively releasing a photographically useful group by applying the constitution that the element contains a photographic silver halide emulsion layer having the combination of specific couplers containing a specific free group. SOLUTION: This element contains a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer combined with a 1-aryl-2-pyrazoline-5-one coupler having a 4-aryloxy coupling free group capable of releasing a photographically useful group(PUG). Also, a 1-aryl-2-pyrazoline-one ring contains a 3-cyano substituent or the like, and the 4-aryoxy coupling free group contains ring substituents selected so as to give a total of the Hammett's Sigma constants equal to or above 0.3 regarding all substituents on the aryloxy ring, provided that no nitro substituent is included in the ortho order for an oxygen atom for coupling the aryloxy ring to the pyrazoline.
