<p>PURPOSE: To provide a surge waveform detection system which can detect the surge waveform of a power feed line from an optional place in a non-contact manner safely and can measure the waveform highly accurately in a wide dynamic range, without requiring a voltage divider. CONSTITUTION: The system has an electric field sensor 1 which has an electrooptic effect changing the intensity of a passing light in accordance with the intensity of an applied electric field, a light source 2 for generating light, a first optical fiber 3 for guiding and bringing the light from the light source 2 into the electric field sensor 1, a photodetector 4 for converting the light to an electric signal, a second optical fiber 3' for guiding and sending the light passing through the electric field sensor 1 into the photodetector 4, and a measuring device 5 for measuring the electric signal from the photodetector 4. The electric field sensor 1 is placed in a non-contact state in the vicinity of a line 7 where a surge signal spreads, so that the waveform of the surge signal is detected as a light intensity waveform.</p> |
