Method of cutting continuously transported strip of plastics deformable material into individual form pieces

A process is disclosed for cutting a strip (16) of plastically deformable material transported on a series of chases (20) into individual shaped pieces (14, 32). In a cutting station (10), a first shaped piece (14) is cut off from the strip (16) by a first cut at its top edge (26), and the bottom edge (36) of the first shaped piece (14) is shaped in a shaping station (12). In order to develop a process that allows shaped pieces to be cut off from the strip with fully rounded or chamfered edges, an upset-free surface and burr-free edges, the first cut is slanted in relation to the vertical transverse plane (24) of the strip (16), so that a slanted material excess (34) results at the top edge (26) of the first shaped piece (14) and a slanted cut (28) results at the strip (16) and forms the bottom edge (30) of the following shaped piece (32). The material excess (34) at the top edge (26) of the first shaped piece (14) is cut off during a second cutting operation.
