Process for applying printing inks to natural fibre-based cloth

Cloth made of natural fibres or predominantly of natural fibres, e.g. of cotton, wool, silk, linen etc., are printed using water-soluble direct printing inks. To prepare the materials to accept the inks, for which they have no affinity, their surfaces are coated with a lacquer which is free from natural resins. Pref. the lacquer is of an ormocer (organically modified ceramic).
