The circuit converts the total voltage of cells (2) connected in series or a proportion thereof into an electrically isolated high frequency current using a voltage-frequency converter (4). The series circuit consists of a block (1) with one or more cells (2) each with its own block checking circuit (22) comprising a temperature dependent resistance (14) located close to and connected to the block, a comparator (18) supplied with a voltage proportional to the voltage across the resistance and a voltage-frequency converter (4) supplied with a current proportional to the high frequency current, the output voltage of which is fed to the comparator. The comparator generates a signal if the voltage output of the amplifier (15) is greater or smaller by a specific value than the output voltage of the converter.
