<p>A collision detection device disposed on a vehicle for properly actuating two or more occupant safety means (5, 6, 7, 8) that operate differently depending on forms of collisions such as front and side collisions, comprising two acceleration sensors (S1, S2) respectively provided in different directions and a controlling means (4) for selectively actuating the plurality of occupant safety means (5, 6, 7, 8) in accordance with directions of collisions on detecting the occurrence of a collision based on respective accelerations (Gx, Gy) detected by the acceleration sensors (S1, S2), wherein the controlling means (4) has collision detecting axes (A1-A5) that are set in advance in directions that are presumed as directions in which collisions are detected such as front, left, right and at least one direction that is different from the three directions and corresponds to the occupant safety means, calculates components (G1, G2, G3, G4, G5) of detected accelerations (Gx, Gy) corresponding to the respective collision detecting axes (A1-A5) and selects and operates occupant safety means (5, 6, 7, 8) that correspond to respective collision detecting axes (A1-A5) based on so calculated values (G1, G2, G3, G4, G5).</p> |
