<p>A method for presenting two simultaneous images (13, 14) having respective cross-sectional areas A1 and A2, on respective first and second two-dimentional image arrays (11, 12) so as to be seen by an observer (15, 16) as a dichoptic stimulus of substantially equal intensity (21, 22), the method comprising the steps of generating a first one of the images (13) at a predetermined first intensity on the first image array (11) so as to be perceived by a first eye of the observer (15) only, and generating a second one of the images (14) at a predetermined second intensity equal the first intensity multiplied by IgA2/IgA1 on the first image array so as to be perceived by a second eye of the observer (16) only. An apparatus for carrying out the method (10) includes a pair of LCD image arrays (11, 12) and a pair of spectacles (25) having prismatic elements (19, 20) for allowing objects to be viewed in a desired direction only.</p> |
