A hydraulic tool closure device for an injection moulding machine includes a pressure transmission unit (6) with a dual piston (8) comprising a low pressure (9) and a high pressure (10) piston, the latter moving into a channel (5), leading to the pressure side of a closure piston (2) in a housing (1), during pressure build-up. the low pressure piston (9) includes a drive cylinder (11) with a drive piston (12) connected to the oil pump and reservoir (T). A chamber (16) on the pressure side of the low pressure cylinder (15) has a larger dia. than the low pressure cylinder (15) and receives the high pressure piston (9) when it moves to open the high pressure cylinder (14). In this open position the max. distance of the low pressure piston (9) from the low pressure cylinder (15) equals the stroke of the high pressure piston (10) until it enters the high pressure cylinder (14). The drive piston (12) has side openings (17) which emerge from the drive cylinder (11) when the high pressure piston (10) enters the high pressure cylinder (14).
