Insertion mechanism for printing-plate leading edge

The plate (17) is directed by a conveyor mechanism acting against its printing side into the gap in a front clap in the printing-cylinder channel. The gap is tangential or nearly so to the cylinder surface. Guides acting against the non-printing side of the plate deflect it from the path determined by the conveyor, so as to direct the leading edge into the gap in the front clamping mechanism (3). The guides can be formed by a guide plate (26) extending for the width of the printed sheet and hinging into the path of the printing plate. The guide plate can be made of spring steel, and can be mounted on a magazine storing the printing plates.
