The compass comprises a compass top and two compass legs (1,2) mounted rotatably in the compass top. The compass top comprises first and second compass-top halves (3,4). A bearing pivot (19) for bearing in each case a compass leg and a counter-core (20') is provided in each case in the first and second compass-top halves. The counter-core of the first compass-top half engages in the assembled state in the bearing pivot of the second compass-top half and is connected non-releasably to this bearing pivot. The counter-core of the second compass-top half engages in the assembled state in the bearing pivot of the first compass-top half and is connected non-releasably to this bearing pivot.
