Location detector using synthetic aperture, for locating e.g. microwave interference source

The location detector has two antennae and receivers for the separate reception of both antennae signals with periodic detection of the phase difference between the antennae voltages which are stored in a buffer store over the period of relative movement between detector equipment and radiation source. During this period a correlation of the phase differences is carried out with a suitable function derived from the relative position of the detector and the radiation source. The system for determining the phase differences can be equipped with a delay line in one of the interferometer arms which is periodically changed over at a known rate of change and these changes are compared to changes in the measured values for correcting measurement errors.
