Transport container allowing stacking and inversion for nesting on return of empty containers

Goods are transported in a container (e.g. of plastic) comprising a base plate (2) with side walls on its upper side, having a castellated form of projections (4, 4a, etc.) and recesses (6, 6a, etc.). A step (5) runs along th inside of the top of the projections. When the container is turned through 180 deg. it nests with another container, the projections fitting in the recesses. The underside of the container and the steps are dimensioned so that two containers in the same orientation can nest together with the base plate of one on the steps of the other.
