The invention concerns a metal honeycomb element, in particular a catalyst carrier element for use in an internal-combustion engine, the honeycomb element having walls (2) which form a multiplicity of channels (3) for a fluid to flow through. The honeycomb element (1) is disposed and secured within an inner (4) and an outer (5) tubular sleeve. The outer sleeve has at least two conical shoulders (6, 7) spaced a certain distance apart and facing in opposite directions. Adjacent to each of these shoulders (6, 7) is a collar (8, 9) which rests against the respective shoulder (6, 7). Each collar (8, 9) is joined to the inner sleeve (4).
