A method for dephosphorising manure, esp. pig manure, comprises: (i) dissolving phosphate (present at least partially in the form of phytate) in the manure; (ii) separating the manure into solid and liq. fractions; and (iii) removing the phosphate from the liq. fraction. Also claimed is an installation for the process comprising at least one manure storage container and appts. for carrying out steps (i) and (iii).
