Ball-joint and method of its manufacture

A ball-and-socket joint and a process for manufacturing it is put forward, in which the housing (4) is manufactured in one piece by means of a sheet-metal forming process. By displacing material an edge bead is produced on the outer housing circumference and this is used to close the housing by a lid (8). A groove (6), which likewise runs around the outer circumference of the housing (4) and is intended for receiving the sealing bellows (5), is produced during the forming process and, as a result, machining of the housing (4) is not necessary.
