Repairing method by way of electrolytic coating of a pipe, in particular of a steam generator pipe

The tube (12), e.g. a vapour generator tube, set in a tubular block (10), is restored by plating. A metallic layer (18) is deposited electrolytically on a surface of the tube, in a zone (14) extending along part of the tube length. The metallic layer (18) is a magnetic, with a thickness greater than 0.5 mm. The deposited metallic layer may have sufficient thickness to support the stresses on the tube in service and be between 0.5 and 1.5 mm. In the axial direction, the length of layer may be between 100 and 200 mm. The deposit may be an alloy of nickel and boron, the boron being less than 5% by weight. The electrolysis may be by pulsed current.
