The invention concerns a method for generating flue gas or a flue gas/water mixture in which method flue gas generated from combustion chamber 1 is fed to a flue gas duct 51 and then to a consumption site B, C or water is added to the generated flue gas and the flue gas/water mixture is fed to the combustion site B, C via a cyclone 42. To increase the total efficiency the flue gases pass through a water space 3 for heating of the water or the water is directly supplied to the flue gas after combustion chamber 1 to create a flue gas/water mixture, in which the flue gas/water mixture is fed to cyclone 42 essentially at its central axis and the flue gas/water mixture is discharged from cyclone 42 from its outer periphery. The invention also concerns an arrangement for application of the method.
