An automatic arrangement for extinguishing fires in closed spaces 10 which are designed to house a trash collection arrangement, which arrangement also contains, besides a gravity shaft 13 emerging into the ceiling of the room, possibly fitted with an extension pipe, a machine 11 oriented underneath the mouth of the shaft, consisting of a number of upwardly open containers 12 which can turn or shift, of which one container is arranged to be located in a trash receiving position, directly beneath the gravity shaft. According to the invention, a fire extinguishing source communicates via a feed line 18 with a pipeline 19 surrounding the mouth of the gravity shaft, a familiar smoke and/or heat detector 14, 16 is arranged to actuate, via a control unit 15, a valve 17 to open the communication between the feed 18 and the pipeline 19, which latter thereupon pours water onto the container 12 situated beneath the shaft 13. <IMAGE> |
