PURPOSE:To provide the titled sealing material having excellent adhesion and resistance to heat and corrosion, by applying a sealing agent, obtd. by dissolving or dispersing a metal-bondable polyolefin contg. an org. peroxide, to the joint of a can body and crosslinking it by heating. CONSTITUTION:A blend obtd. by adding 0.3-10wt% org. peroxide (crosslinking agent) such as t-butyl peroxycumene to a metal-bondable polyolefin (e.g. Adomer, a product of Mitsui Petrochemicals) contg. polar groups such as carboxyl, hydroxyl, or epoxy group is dissolved in an org. solvent or dispersed in an aq. alkaline soln. to prepare a sealing agent. The sealing agent is applied to the joint of a can body to form a coating film of 5-200mu in thickness, and crosslinked and cured by heating at 50-300 deg.C for 0.5sec to 30min to obtain a sealing material for the joint of a can.
