A delivery head assembly (3) is provided for forming a tape band (2) from a plurality of tows and applying the band (2) as superimposed layers in a helical pattern on to a mandrel (5) to produce non-uniform cross sectional articles. This head assembly (3) is composed of a distribution section, ribbonizing section, coating section, add section, and compaction roller (4).
