Cyclic phenol sulfide and process for producing the same

A cyclic phenol sulfide represented by the following formula (1) is described: <CHEM> wherein X represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, or an acyl group; Y1 represents a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a halogenated hydrocarbon group, -COR<1>, -OR<2>, -COOR<3>, -CN, -CONH2, -NO2, -NR<4>R<5>, a halogen atom, -SO4R<6>, or -SO3R<7>, in which R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, and R<7> each represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group; n is an integer of 3 or more; and m is an integer of 1 to 7, provided that the plural m's of the Sm's are the same or different; the plural X's are the same or different; and the plural Y1's are the same or different. A process for producing the cyclic phenol sulfide is also described.
